Do you have what it takes to be a LEADER? Do you know what a Leader is? A Leader is the person who leads or commands a group, or organization. What does leadership mean to you? Every manager wants to be a good leader, but how can you be a good leader if you don't know what leadership really is? Unfortunately, leadership doesn't really have a one-size-fits-all definition. We all have our own ideas about what it means to be a good leader or a poor leader. For example, some people think leadership means guiding others to complete a particular task, while others believe it means motivating the members of your team to be their best selves, or some people believe that but simply being a manager, that means that you are already a leader. But while the definitions may vary, the general consensus remains the same: leaders are people who know how to achieve goals and inspire people along the way.
"Leadership is having a vision, sharing that vision and inspiring others to support your vision while creating their own." – Mindy Gibbins-Klein, founder, REAL Thought Leaders
"Leadership is the ability to guide others without force into a direction or decision that leaves them still feeling empowered and accomplished." – Lisa Cash Hanson, CEO, Snuggwugg
"Effective leadership is providing the vision and motivation to a team so they work together toward the same goal, and then understanding the talents and temperaments of each individual and effectively motivating each person to contribute individually their best toward achieving the group goal." – Stan Kimer, president,Total Engagement Consulting by Kimer
"Leadership is the art of serving others by equipping them with training, tools and people as well as your time, energy and emotional intelligence so that they can realize their full potential, both personally and professionally." – Daphne Mallory, family business expert,The Daphne Mallory Company
"Leadership is being bold enough to have vision and humble enough to recognize achieving it will take the efforts of many people — people who are most fulfilled when they share their gifts and talents, rather than just work. Leaders create that culture, serve that greater good and let others soar." – Kathy Heasley, founder and president,Heasley & Partners
"My perspective of a leader is an individual who knows the ins and outs about the business so they can empathize with followers. In addition to being a positive influence on the people they are leading, leadership is about setting the tone, motivating, inspiring, thinking big, and never [giving] up when others feel like quitting." – Alexis Davis, founder and designer, Hoo-Kong by Alexis Davis
"A true leader is secure in creating a framework that encourages others to tap into their own skills and ideas and freely contribute to the whole of the project or company." – Judy Crockett, owner,Interactive Marketing & Communication
"In my experience, leadership is about three things: To listen, to inspire and to empower. Over the years, I've tried to learn to do a much better job listening actively, making sure I really understand the other person's point of view, learning from them, and using that basis of trust and collaboration to inspire and empower. [It's about] setting the bar high, and then giving them the time and resources to do great work." – Larry Garfield, president, Garfield Group
"I define leadership as knowing when to be in front to lead and guide a team during the journey, and when to step back and let others take the lead. Much like an athlete who knows exactly what position to move to on the field at any given time, a true business leader understands the delicate balance of how to help others become leaders, fuel career ambitions, then give them the chance to shine." –Dan Schoenbaum, CEO, Redbooth
"Too many people view management as leadership. It's not. Leadership comes from influence, and influence can come from anyone at any level and in any role. Being open and authentic, helping to lift others up and working toward a common mission build influence. True leadership comes when those around you are influenced by your life in a positive way." – Kurt Uhlir, CEO and co-founder, Sideqik

"Leadership is stepping out of your comfort zone and taking risk to create reward." – Katie Easley, founder, Kate Ryan Design
"A leader is someone who has the clarity to know the right things to do, the confidence to know when she's wrong and the courage to do the right things even when they're hard." – Darcy Eikenberg, founder, RedCapeRevolution.com
"Leadership is the behavior that brings the future to the present, by envisioning the possible and persuading others to help you make it a reality." – Matt Barney, founder and CEO, LeaderAmp

It is about having a greater vision of where your company is trying to go while leaving the path open for others to grow into leaders." – Jarie Bolander, COO and co-founder, Lab Sensor Solutions
"A leader is a person who takes you where you will not go alone." –Susan Ascher, CEO, founder and president, SusanAscher.com

"Leadership is not about finding ways to lead better or to motivate your team. It's about being there from the beginning as equals and becoming a mentor when they need you to be one." –Michael Womack, COO and co-founder, hovelstay.com
"Leadership styles differ, but at the core, good leaders make the people they are leading accomplish more than they otherwise would. The most effective leaders do this not through fear, intimidation or title, but rather by building consensus around a common goal." – Tom Madine, CEO and president, Worldwide Express
"A leader is a mix of a visionary and a left brainer — an inspiration to others who uplifts one to walk beside him, not behind him. A leader lets go of his/her ego and taps into his soul, consistently stretching himself, challenging himself, growing within." – Brigitta Hoeferle, founder and owner, Montessori Kinder International School
"Leadership is inspiring others to pursue your vision within the parameters you set, to the extent that it becomes a shared effort, a shared vision and a shared success." – Steve Zeitchik, CEO of Focal Point Strategies
"Leadership in the business world requires harnessing the energy and efforts of a group of individuals so that their outlook is advanced from an unremarkable Point A to a very desirable Point B — from bad to good, slow to fast, red to black. During that process, leadership manifests in projecting your expertise in a way that gains the confidence of others. Ultimately, leadership becomes about trust — when that confidence inspires them to align their vision and level of commitment for the betterment of the company." – Phil Blair, president, Manpower Staffing Services
"For me, leadership is an act — a decision to take a stand, or step, in order to encourage, inspire or motivate others to move with you. A Manager is a LEADER who INSPIRES, EMPOWERS, SHARES COMPANY VISION and LEADS it's people to CHANGE.
Managing is almost an art form. It's a science all on it's own. It takes a special person to be a Manager. It's takes a lot of training to be a Leader.
Managing is more than just a 9 to 5 job. You are the glue that binds the company together.

Training is so important. How do you motivate? Train. How do you build a great TEAM? Train. How do you make your job easier? Train others.
You will soon have the ability to TRAIN others. You will be a teacher, a coach and a mentor.
You will have a huge impact and make a difference in someone else's life. You will inspire someone else. Be a person of ACTION, not just a mouth that talks a lot. Don't just tell someone else that you are going to read, do it yourself. Expect others to do as you do, not just what you say. Your success and the Success of your company depend on your ability to Manage and LEAD them.

Support other Managers and Leaders in your organization.
A good Leader is always learning and assisting their piers, students, employees and superiors. You can support your Manager and help make them better. Do as they ask and represent them well even when they are not around. You will be sure to be noticed by those who are looking even if nobody says anything. You can be a GREAT Leader even when you are a Manager in Training. You can represent yourself, the company and your "work family" well when you care to do your very best 100% of the time. There is no need brag; humble yourself and you will shine brighter than the brightest stars in your company's galaxy.

You can be a superman or woman when nobody is looking. What do you think your co-workers think of you? What do your superiors or your customers think of you? If they would rate you less than 10 out of ten for being a good leader, then you know that you have some things that you need to work on. It's no problem, in this course, you will learn to be the BEST.
The book list is quite a lot. Are you a reader? If not, you need to be. Experts say that you need to read at least 30-minutes everyday. Jerome Robinson will tell you that you need to find 2-hours throughout your day to read. Facebook and Twitter and Email do not count. Only you can strive to be the best that you can be. Jerome Robinson will tell you that you need to find 2-hours throughout your day to read. Facebook and Twitter and Email do not count. Only you can strive to be the best that you can be. Management is more than being a glorified babysitter although please understand, it can sometimes feel that it's exactly what it is. Good management is:
POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT.
POSITIVE RECOGNITION.
SOLUTIONS EXPERT.
RESOURCE.
STRATEGIST.
PEOPLE DEVELOPER.
ORGANIZER.
EVALUATER.
GOAL CREATOR.
GLORIFIED BABYSITTER.
Yes, these are just a few of the many things a manager is. But do you have what it takes to do it well. How do you take the human emotion and human bias/favoritism out of it? How do you keep from being what may appear to some to be bi-polar or going crazy? It's not easy. You almost have to be robotic or mechanical about it.

Managers don't LEAD or MANAGE by yelling or screaming or raising there voice or threatening their employees!
Instead, a good Manager uses positive reinforcement. It's not always easy for some, but those are just some of the many challenges you will face when you become a Manager. How to keep calm when sometimes it may seem that the situation just doesn't call for it. How will you keep your cool? Because if you don't keep your cool, you are sure to lose the respect of your TEAM.

There are 3 kinds of RESPECT.
Demanded Respect = The worst kind of Respect. This person demands it because of their position and expects everyone to respect them because of their title. This is a FEAR based respect. Usually, not good at all.
Commanded Respect = This is a good Respect because your presence and demeanor call for it. It could be one's car, or the way that they dress or the way that everyone else respects this person.
Earned Respect = The best kind of Respect. You've done it. This is a perfect example of a great Leader through action and positive reinforcement and clearly reciprocates the same respect in return.

A good Manager is always conducting EVALUATIONS, COACHING Sessions and PERFORMANCE Reviews.
One on One Coaching Sessions are very important to a TEAM's overall success. To build a great TEAM, you must focus on the individual first.
Group Role Playing and Constructive Criticism are a must but remember that many people take constructive criticism as a negative. Therefor, you must prep your subject to take it as a positive and always start and end your session with positive feedback.

A good Manager will groom the next Leader and coach that subject to be on the right path to SUCCESS.
A good Manager shines bright when they help others succeed. If the pillars (which are the foundation of the company, it's people), then the company will succeed.
A good Manager helps other get what they need to get to the TOP of the SUCCESS TRAIN. Help others get what they want, and you will win.
A good Manager is always learning and studying to be better tomorrow than they were yesterday without a big, know-it-all head.
A good Manager will genuinely care about it's people and the company that they work for. They will make sure that they represent the company well and always do what is asked of them.

It will be your job to make sure that your TEAM understands that great training is the key to their success. Do NOT fail them. You will need to do your homework and train them at least once a day. You will need to plan these training's and practice them before you teach your class. Your students will be able to spot a fake and they will know that you did not care enough to be prepared for them. Don't be a faker and care more...
Your TEAM's fate is in your hands so do NOT let them down. They are counting on you to inspire them. They are counting on you to LEAD them. They are counting on you to TEACH and COACH them. They want to win The Superbowl. They want to be better. There families are counting on you to help make sure that they have food on the table and gas in their car. So help your students to be a huge success. A lot is riding on you being at your best.

If you smoke, quit. If you drink a lot, quit. If you do drugs, quit that to. You will never earn the respect of your TEAM if they know that you do drugs (even if they do them to despite what they say). A good Manager is not weak and shall lead by being a shining example for others to follow. You will conduct yourself and demand perfection from yourself as you do others. You will be on your best behavior at all times. You will not divulge things about your personal life if tit's not positively relevant. You will not indulge in behavior that is not becoming of a well respected manager. You will not gossip, listen to gossip or put up with any gossip that you hear from your TEAM. You will report any such behavior to a senior manager or Executive that needs to know. It is your job.
You should always be Learning. Make your vehicle a University on wheels by replacing your music with self help CD's or mp3's. Read 2-hours a day if you can help it. Know and understand your company's policies and handbook.
Take every class and read every book that your company recommends or suggests. Be the best that you can be, always. Read first thing in the morning and read at night. Read while you pump gas and read while you are cooking at the stove. Read while you are you the bathroom and read while you jog on a treadmill (if you use a treadmill).

What is it to learn? Did you really stop reading when you graduated high school? When was the last time that you picked up a book? Do you have passion? Do you have drive? Do you have what it takes? What motivates you? When gives you energy? Do you like cars, a beach house or a big boat or an airplane? You only live once, so live it. Live it to the fullest. Live it right? Do you believe in yourself? If you don't, why should others? You can change. You can make a difference in your life. Let's do it together!
Training is vital to your success. Let's talk about selling to the prospect. Do you know the steps to the sales cycle when you first meet a prospect?

Success is at your fingertips. What is the difference between 1st and 2nd place? It's the difference between a Winner versus a Loser. In the sales cycle, there is no 2nd place. There is a Winner and a Loser. The Winner closes the prospect whereas the Loser doesn't and goes home empty handed and penniless. The Winner gets to take home the prize, the trophy, the meal ticket, all of the prize winnings, dinner and the date, the beach house, the fancy sports car, the airplane, the big boat, the life of their dreams.
Are you competitive? Do you take pride in winning? Do you push and challenge yourself to win? Are you a winner?
Are you competitive? Do you take pride in winning? Do you push and challenge yourself to win? Are you a winner?
Do you have goals? Are you results oriented? Are you a planner? Do you plan your self help training sessions? You should. Develop yourself. Train yourself. Coach others what you've learned. Achieve your ultimate potential. The books that you are asked to read will ensure your success and a direct path to the TOP. Be an athlete or the Michael Jordan of your field. Be a better you; better than yesterday starts now for a beautiful tomorrow. Rise to the TOP of your corporate ladder now. This is your chance to shine.
How does a Magician get good? Practice. How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, practice, practice. How do get good enough so that you can practice? You first need to train, train, and then train some more. You can be as good as you want to be if you only first train to be the best. Is success your Destiny? Are you destined for great things? Are you an athlete? Are you a master of your trade? Do you want to be a MASTER Closer? Do you enjoy people? Do you like training and helping others? Later, we will talk about chopping trees and how you can succeed by bringing down the walls that hold you back from growing.
How often should you train everyday? Are you training in the right direction? Are you the force behind driving you to train more? What makes an athlete so good? How does a body builder get into shape? How do you become the best?
What does an actor do when preparing for a movie or a play? What does a boxer do when preparing for a fight?
What does a doctor do in medical school?
What does a lawyer do to prepare for a big case?
What does a doctor do in medical school?
What does a lawyer do to prepare for a big case?
What does all of this training really do for you? Developing yourself to be a better you. You could train all day and everyday for the rest of your life and still won't find success unless you work on developing yourself. Ultimately, the choice is yours. Develop yourself the same way that you develop a child and teaching them to be a growing and prosperous adult. Break the mold and the barriers that bind you and that hold you back.
